I don't think Star Trek is actually "ruined", but I would say the single event that hurt Trek the most was when they took the fans out of the equation (which was the primary reason why Trek was so successful). In the past they allowed fans to send in scripts to be made into episodes and some of them were very succesful. When Brannon Braga (who conicdently was one of those people that sent in a script and was hired on as a writer whoe eventually became a producer) came on board he and Rick Berman stopped accepting scripts. This took a HUGE creative element out of the Trek equation. Many people feel this was one of the major factors that contributed to Enterprise being so creatively stale.
Let the fans contribute to the series as they did with Next Gen, Voyager, and DS9 and you will see the series take off again.

Overkill, probably. I've been a ST fan since the early 70's. And I loved TNG, liked DS9 and tolerated Voyager. I tried to watch Enterprise, but it just didn't ring any bells for me. And of the movies, well, I've discovered that the even-numbered movies are the best - II (Khan), IV (whaled), VI (undisccovered country), VIII (Picard meets the Borg again). It's like they couldn't do 2 in a row. But I'm still a Trekkie, so Star Trek isn't quite dead yet.

I THINK it is the people who go to the conventions and pretend they are Romulans and live their life's like the biggest GEEKS in the history of the world. The show is great. The Movies for the most part are great. But Mr. Soolu is not great. George Taki is a Joke.
I would say that all the shows are pretty good, but the 3rd show is not really related to series at least to me. I found the 2nd show with Pacard to be related, but deep space nine and these other shows were just ways to make money off of the original.

I'm a Trekker. I'm a big fan of the TV series but I never liked the Enterprise series. I think they screwed up when they decided to go with a "prequel" series.

Enterprise. It goes against EVERYTHING that is the heaven known as Star Trek. The Vulcans aren't Vulcan; the ship looks way to high tech; T'Pol is . . . I shall not say; ARG! 'Tis not Star Trek at all!
