What I mean is this. If any member of the govt. (congress, senate, President, etc. etc.) voted yes for a foreign war, at least one member of their immediate family would be required to go fight in that war. This person would be required by law to be on the front line with a rifle.

I am not recommending we have the draft. What I am suggesting is the people who vote us into War with someone would give it MUCH more thought (perhaps elevate it even above their thoughts of reelection) if they knew for certain a member of their immediate family was going to that war.

If they vote yes for a forieng war and the draft is instituted then I think their families should be drafted first and then the rest of the people in the country. Only if the draft where instituted cause we have damn good men and women in our military and they joind. they wanted to be soldiers. I would rather have some one fight for us who wants to fight rather than any draftees.

No. We are very lucky to have so many who have VOLUNTEERED to be in the military. No matter what their status in life is, they made the choice and they and their families are the ones making the sacrifices. I don't hear them complaining, or demanding that the Bush twins should be sent there, or supporting any idea of a draft, or asking if any member of congress has any of their own immediate family over there. Better to have those who CHOSE to be there, that way they don't have to worry about covering the behind of someone who was FORCED to be there. Thank God for each and everyone of them, because of them we can all sleep a better at night.

That sounds great, but they'd still find a loophole and while our sons and daughters are dying in the fight, their kin will be in court making excuses, only to be forgiven and sent to work in a high paying government position. It's all a joke. And the joke's on our children.

I think the Draft bill for all Americans should be passed. Maybe then we'll all finally get up off our collective asses and take to the streets.

problem is that would involve putting several youngsters on the front line unwillingly... that's a little morbid. you can't assume every politician gives a damn about members of their immediate family.

Great, although unrealistic, idea.
