Are there any detrimental effects to either video game console when you stack one on top of the other?

Specifically, a Playstation 2 will be underneath a Generation NEX, and both are next to a Sony VCR on the television cart. No two devices will be used at the same time other that the TV.

The more detail the better, and thank you in advance.

Stacking is ok but some of the next gen systems tend to get really warm so I purchased little strips of balsa( found at any hardware or craft shop) and I put three on each system and stack the next on top so there is some air flow between them.

well i've never had any problems stacking devices like this.. as long as the things on top aren't too heavy, and there is still good air circulation around them (overheating will slow down the console, and might cause it to freeze)

the only problem i could possibly see is too much heat building up and messing with your performance. To avoid this make sure it is pretty well ventilated where they are being kept.

Happy gaming!
