Following the most obvious reason that's already been stated; most cartoons during that era (and before then) didn't see the need to add in any afro-american characters. "Equal Rights" was considered a joke and making such a claim would probably get you laughed out of animation studios. When a cartoon WAS made that involved African-Americans (because remember: at the time, Africans & Afro-Americans were considered the same; *le gasp*), it was ALWAYS in a negative, stereotyped connotation. Don't believe me?? Check out Wikipedia for "Scrub me mama with a boogie beat". Most racist cartoon you'll see for a while.

Because when people in the stone age especially in Flintstone age, they never done expedition by ship so they never found African and Asian Continent until the time of Colombus, that was the time white people knew about the existence of black people

I agree....they should remake the flintstones where they adopt a tiny but adorable young black kid. Call is different flintstones.

because "some" american animators are racist, they never want to draw black people in their cartoons..compare to Japan's anime, I seen alot of black characters in bleach and other animes. Japanese anime is way better than american cartoon.

well one theory is: dinosaurs thought black people were yummy, or maybe back at those days black people weren't brought to bedrock (which most probably is in the US) & they were still living their happy lives in africa
