I use a foundation from Nordstrom but where do I put it? All over my face or just in certain areas? My face gets oily after I exercise and will foundation help cover up or prevent oily areas? Any recommendations?

Thank you!

Concealer is what goes over the splotchy (discoloration) or pimples on your face.
Foundation is applied over the concealer to give your skin an even appearance. Make sure you blend the foundation into your hairline, and around your jawline or you'll look like you have a mask on.

Depending on what kind of makeup you're using, the foundation may cause more oil to appear on your face (most likely the case) or it won't make a difference. If you're worried about oily versus dry spots on your face and want to even it out try Clinique's skin care line, specifically the soap. It's made especially for different skin types. Even if you just go to the makeup counter to find out what type of skin you have, it's a good experience.

To prevent oily areas: I can't stress enough about eight glasses a day. Drinking the right amount of water will hydrate your skin cells and also get rid of discoloration. After you exercise drape a hot, wet wash cloth over your face for a minute, then wipe it clean of any oil/sweat.

What I do is to dab a little bit of foundation on both cheeks, chin, nose and forehead. Then I rub it all in with my fingers making sure to not break off abruptly at the jaw. There are some foundations just for oily skin--I use Physicians Formula for Oily Skin. It would be OK to wash your face and put on foundation more than once. I've also found little pieces of special sheets called blotting paper that you can blot away the oil on your face.

After you exercise, instead of just putting foundation on, then pull you're hair back and wash your face with water cupping it in your hands. If your foundation blends in with your skin well then i would only put it in certain areas; If you do put it all over your face, make sure it's all blended in, or else it looks tacky.

Dont ever apply makeup when excercising. Makeup's bad enough for your skin as it is. It'll just make it worse. Start by with a dab on each cheek, nose, forehead, chin, and yes it should be used all over the face. Use a brush.
