I really want to know. I'm an ex smoker and I just feel depressed alot. I see smokers driving by and they are always smiling away like they don't have a care in the world.

Assuming you're writing about cigarette smoking, one thing's for sure: Smokers are definitely more happy than the non-smokers who are still going through nicotine withdrawal. They say that for the first year after quitting cravings and feeling ill are quite common.

The smokers where I live are upset right now. A new law passed that will allow no smoking in public (even outdoors)--I think it takes effect in May. They are also unhappy because cigarettes just went up another $1 in price.

Most addicted smokers would like to be non-smokers, but find it so difficult to quit.

(If you weren't referring to cigarettes, of course smokers are more happy)!

Pertaining to the fact that smokers are doing exactly what they wish to be doing... Of course they are happy! They are fulfilling their cravings without another non-smoker ramming more social unacceptability's down their lungs, so to speak.
I'm a new non-smoker and I'm sick of hearing about all the newest socially acceptable shoving down everyones' throat.
Until I stop seeing people drinking alcohol at bars, I wish all this crap could just stop about the smokers. If people can kill themselves and other drinking then puff puff away with a smile.
Society sucks big time. Oh and by the way smokers, keep donating blood! Did you know its socially acceptable to donate smokers blood... Like I said, Society sucks.
Hey smokers... smile and puff... Non smokers all look at you while they frown. I know , I'm only frowning cause I'm fighting a habit that not only stinks... the nicotine buzz makes me want to throw up, but I'm not going to tell you smokers to butt it out. Just don't smoke in my house or car.
If someone wishes to die with a fag hanging outta their mouths, so be it. Least they lived life the way they wished to.

Man what i would give to be in your shoes. I am that guy you see smoking as you drive by laughing. I am laughing because i know i will more than likely die before youfrom some painful disease that could have be prevented only if i didnt smoke. Your not missing anything. Trust me it is not worth it.

Not considering any other factors other than smoking, i think yes. Non-smokers are happier people for the simple reason that they are in control of their life. They do not have uncontrollable crave for a puff. Being in control makes them happier.
