Americans are getting fatter and fatter and they can no longer have satisfying sex lives so they take out their frustrations on foreigners.

YOU are from France and yet you can tell that WE (ie all French, right?) do not like American rudeness. That is correct?

Well, you are generalizing right from start, my friend. If YOU do not like American rudeness, how can you be so sure ALL of the French share your feelings? Then how come you know Americans so well? Have you been all over United States and are you in a position to ascertain that ALL Americans are rude? Last, can you guarantee an American could not say the same you do, but about the French?

Why are the French so arrogant?

Everybody's got to be something ... but more importantly everybody is something to someone else!

I think the real answer is that what we see in someone else has more to do with who we are than who they are!

Meanwhile I'll hope for the world where such lame characterizations are neither needed, wanted, accepted or observed in the first place.

By the way ... and sure it wasn't a scientific study ... and albeit done by an American magazine (but one known for wholesomeness and integrity) ... Readers Digest tested 36 cities for common courtesy and the winner as most courteous ... NEW YORK ... and Americans think New Yorkers are the rudest of the rude! Paris in the same survey finished right in the middle ... tied for 15th out of 36 with Lisbon, Buenos Aires, London, and Johannesburg. Just goes to show you that you don't really know what you know. You know? Really!

Unfortunately, rudeness knows no boundaries. Fortunately, kindness doesn't, either. Focus on the latter and disregard the former. In the meantime, a little cultural humor:

Heaven is where the police are British, the cooks are French, the mechanics German, the lovers Italian and it's all organized by the Swiss.

Hell is where the chefs are British, the mechanics French, the lovers Swiss, the police German and it's all organized by the Italians.

Not all Americans are rude.Like the above poster mentioned, it could be a cultural thing. Just because some are rude, doesn't mean the whole lot of us are.

rude is not just an American trait. If you are going to generalize, why are the French so afraid to step up and take an active part in world politics.

French people make fun of americans for eating corn, which you guys think that it should only be served to cows.

Stop stereotyping countries! It's not like you've never been rude to another frenchman.

Not all of them are. And maybe it's just a matter of cultural perspective. From reports I've gotten from many Americans, many French people are very rude and arrogant.

I think not all Americans are so rude.Maybe most American are polite and intimate. The minority of them maybe are rude.In every race and ethnic there are good and bad people that is natural.
God created day and night, bad and good, man and woman, poor and rich, young and old, live and die always everything in a pair..
Religion, education and environment will give influence to the people behaviour..

erm...well to start off, you're not exactly being miss manners either right now by generalising all americans and lumping them into one single group.

but for the americans that ARE rude, it's just because they either have a) genetic factors, b) environmental factors, or c) some kind of social/mental problem.

however, all cultures have their fair share of rude people. i don't think it's fair to target just the americans.
