well just get in there with a butter knife or spackling tool and start scraping. Add a little warm water on a sponge to it to loosen the gum and then keep scraping. If it is affecting the operation of the dryer you need to call a dryer repairman.

If you can get a small can of reall good air sprayers like for cleaning keyboards. If you get a big enough can you can spray the gum and it should start to frost over and freeze, You have to spray continously and it should freeze the gum. Then tap it with a hammer and it should bust like hard candy. I know you can do it with a small can of freon but I dont know if you can still get them. I know this works trust me.

The ice is a great idea. Anything remaining after that can be removed with a little WD-40 on a cloth.

Wow! What a mess! I feel for you! What if you tried to freeze it with an ice cube and using either a straight edge razor blade, taking care not to damage the paint, and scrape it off. Maybe instead of the razor blade you tried a butter knife or a plastic butter knife? Good luck! :(

Try Goo-Gone. It's available at Walmart and is supposed to be able to get rid of gum. Wow, what a mess. Good luck.
