The Christian Bible is often quoted, but I think you'll find it might be Homer, as his work is read by non-Christians too. Top selling is somewhat a question of language, and the spread of educated readers in it. That has certainly fed sales of the Bible - but it has also fed sales of Homer too. Mao's Little Red Book was mostly not "sold". The inability to read, and poverty across Islam limits sales of the Q'ran, despite population. Best sellers aren't always the best books, and nor are the most widely distributed books.

If you mean which author's books has sold the most copies, The Bible, The I Ching, and The Koran, top the list. For modern authors, Stephen King, Jackie Collins, Tom Clancy and John Grisham top the list. Mao's 'Little Red Book' has a print run of over 1 billion copies, but few of those were actually bought-the Chinese government handed them out to its citizens and translated it to further socialism.
