He should start soon.
Does he say anything else, like MaMa? Talk to him alot and he will begin talking even sooner. Babies are all different and have their own schedules for sure!!!
Just remember...we can all talk now, reguardless of how early we started. Later in life will it matter when he started talking? Don't let the books, etc make you feel something is wrong or you kid is slow cuz he hasn't said it yet.
Hang in there...there are more worries yet to come. Don't sweat this one for sure!

My baby started saying mama at 7 months. EVERYBODY told us babies say dada first, but my baby has been saying mama all day everyday for about a month. I was out of his sight one day & he just started yelling "mama!".
It really varies from baby to baby. It also depends on how much time you spend with the baby trying to teach it to talk. We've been trying to get ours to say dada for over a month & he finally said "nnnn-da" tonight. Everything babies do for the first time is so precious. Check out my profile and my 360 & maybe we can connect on 360. I remember being like you wanting to know when my baby was going to do everything from roll over to crawl to eat baby food.....
Have a good night.

Hi,
Your baby should be starting around Six months, keep talking to your baby, they are slowly absorbing the language you are saying. Try to teach your baby to say BaBa first, remember to say it slowly in front of your child ( your mouth action ). This is the method i used on my daughter and i found it to be useful, she stated talking quite early and her abilty to learn language is faster then normal-aged kids like her ( according to doctor ).

it's been a long time, but i think it's about 10 months old depends on how often you repeat it. Every child is different, one may say it at 10 mo. others sooner or later.

I think my baby says Dada at a year, but since he is saying it to the duck, the walls, and the Doodlebops, I don't think he is very concious about what he is saying.
