HI,I still cannot understand why america and iraq are fighting?

What are they fighting for?

America isn't fighting Iraq. We are fighting FOR Iraq. Most of the people in Iraq want to live in a free Democratic country. Some minority groups want to be the ones that are in control. Others liked the way it was with a dictator in power because they had power then that they no longer have. Some are terrorists that are just radicals. (You have to be pretty radical to strap a bunch of explosives on to kill a few people). If we were to pull out of Iraq without finishing the job, the terrorists would (as President Bush said) follow us home. If enough people in the US sit and do nothing long enough, we will also be living like the people in Iraq.

As I understand it, things are going well between the US and the new Iraq government or better than they were before. the problem is that now Iraq is in absolute chaos because of the different ethnic groups are having a civil war. This means that America has found itself in the middle of a civil war which they had a hand in creating. This is the reason that US troops are still there now. Bush cannot walk away.

US troops are trying to keep things orderly in Iraq while the the new Iraqi government builds the police and military again. Many of the bombings you read about harm the new recruits. The US is now fighting Iraqi forces any longer. Mainly it is trying to stop the attempts by certain groups to take over certain areas, especially in Baghdad and Al Anbar province. Much of Iraq is OK. These bombers will go anywhere and attack children, mosques or any target which is sensitive enough to bring disorder.

Bush attacked Iraq because he believe Iraq had mass destructive weapons. He insisted in pre-emptive strike and the war started in April 2002.

Until today, there is no so-called mass destructive weapons found and Bush has just admitted mistakes in the decision to attack.

More than 3000 USA soldiers have died in the war and this number has exceeded the fatality in 911.

Because the US invaded them in order to secure the oil ministry and in following, to allow companies like Dick Cheney's Halliburton to go in and control the oil. Moreover, Iraq is in an ideal location (centrally located) as a conduit to all oil transport in the middle east. If the US controls it, they control essentially all oil traffic there. Iraqis are resisting this, just as US citizens would resist it (remember the "bear arms" amendment?) if another country invaded us for our natural resources. The US government claims it did it for humanitarian reasons, but if this were so, they would also invade other countries, which they didn't. Oil, and the control of it, is the sole reason.

Freedom? It's a word that no one can fully explain but that everyone is willing to fight for. I'm pretty sure that all the people who died lost theirs though.
