I read this amazing book called "Searching for David's Heart" by Cherie Bennett when i was like in 7th grade. It is my favorite book that I have ever read.....and i read a lot of books..no joke. There were tears on the page because i was crying so hard and i was so into the book i couldnt get a tissue to wipe my tears away. The book is about a girl and her search for her brothers heart. It touches you in such a way. All ages should read this book it is amazing. I read this story several times now and it touches my heart. It's just the best book you will ever read. And I really think that if you pass up the chance to read this then you're really missing out.
I also loved "Where the red fern grows" by Wilson Rawls. Its a book about a boy who wants 2 coon dogs, but his parents are poor. He finds an ad in the paper for two pups for 50 bucks. He works for 2 years and saves up the money. He travels out into the city to get his pups. He trains em and they become the best coon huntin dogs. In the end, the pups died( lil ann, the girl, died because she couldnt live w/o old dan) and old dan died after he had a fight with another animal. Where they were burried, a red fern grew. Its really a sad story of never giving up. I loved it a lot.

"The Codex" by Douglas Preston is a good adventure tale with lots of suspense. Old man Broadbent made a fortune looting the tombs of the Incas and Myans. Now he has disappeared along with all his loot. The only thing left behind was a video tape tell his sons that if they want to inherit anything, they will have to rob his tomb. Can three half-brothers from different backgrounds work together to solve thier financial problems? The follow up "Tyranasaur Canyon" follow the two main characters is also excellent.
If you want something a little lighter, try Janet Evanovich's "Metro Girl" or her Stephanie Plum mysteries. Plum is a out of work department store buyer who turns to bounty hunting to pay the bills. As you can imagine, she has a lot to learn. Loads of laughs, but the first book is a lot darker than the rest of the series.
Right now I am reading "Treasure Of Khan" by Clive & Dirk Cussler. Very good, but it is more of an aquired taste- part Indiana Jones, part James Bond, part Jaques Costeau. If you give Clive Cussler works a try, you will either love it or hate it.

A Walk in the Woods by Bill Bryson is an excellent book. If you are looking for a good laugh, look no further. Probably the funniest book I've ever read, its about the author hiking the Appalachian trail when he has no experience what so ever. Hilarious!
P.s. to zazzle gut- the Da Vinci code may be an interesting book, but none of it is true, so I wouldn't put too much faith in Dan Brown

Life of Pi is exceptional if youd like a story about crossing the Pacific with a Siberian Tiger - its a very well researched novel by Yann Tersen
The Eagle and the Raven is one of the most moving books ive ever read - an historical novel about an ancient celtic tribe fighting the Roman empire
The Electric Kool-ade Acid Test - about Ken Kesey's (author of One Flew Over the Cookoos Nest, another good book) role in the LSD revolution
anything by Noam Chomsky - He is a genius of modern history and politics and it will make you think
Terry Pratchett diskworld novels are great - really funny fantasy books with a lot of depth
anything by Neil Gaiman - try the graphic novel Sandman Series, or his novel "American Gods"
have fun!

I love to read fantasy novels especially ones by RA Salvatore. He developes good strong characters and keeps up powerful story lines. If you do want to start reading his books check out the book Homeland which tells the tale of a dark elf named Drizzt. Very good stuff! If you don't like fantasy then maybe like so many others have said try Dan Brown. He really is a great author and makes you use your mind. Angels and Demons is definitely the way to start out, much better than the DaVinci Code.

My favorite books lately are the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. They're technically in the young adult category, but only because they aren't vulgar or obscene, they're "clean" books. I'm not into kiddy books, something has to be entertaining and intellectual to interest me, and I'd say these are both. Kind of like Harry Potter books, but even more adult-ish.
Anyway, it's about a family of vampires that have chosen the "higher path" and don't drink human blood, they live off of animals. But they co-exist with humans. Essentially it's a love story (ill-fated, like Romeo and Juliet) between one of the vampires and a human girl. But what makes it so wonderful is they're like chick-flicks in a book. The first one is very seductive and sensual (without being dirty) and makes you fall in love with the vampire guy.
We've read these books in my book club, and I've had my mom and sisters and all my friends read them, and every single one just loves them. Give them a try and see if you're not hooked within the first couple of chapters.

Hopefully you like reading fiction.
I strongly recommend the books written by the author Clive Cussler.
He has a fantastic hero named Dirk Pitt, along with a sidekick named Al Giordino.
Do you like world related books? I just completed a fantastic book just released a short time ago.
"Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader." This book was written by the author Bradley K. Martin.
This book gives fantastic insight into the former North Korean "President for Eternity" dictator Kim, Il-Sung and his idiot son "Great Leader" Kim, Jong-Il.
