My problem is 2ms=___ns
I know that a nanosecond is one thousandth of a microsecond. Do I take 2ms to be 2,000,000 and then divide by 1,000? Is my answer 2,000? I need a formula, can anyone help?

2ms = 2 millisecond = 2,000 microseconds = 2,000,000 nanoseconds.

m = milli = 1/1,000 = 1E-3
μ = micro = 1/1,000,000 = 1E-6
n = nano = 1/1,000,000,000 = 1E-9

So, I think your teacher meant "ms" as in millisecond NOT microsecond.

since;
1 microsecond = 1000 nanoseconds

= 2 microseconds x (1000 nanoseconds/1 microsecond)

= 2000 nanoseconds
you really don't need any formula. you just need to know the
equality of each unit into another.u

There is some confusion here. ms is the abbreviation for milliseconds. The abbreviation for microseconds is μs, or in rare usage mms (milli-milliseconds)
2 ms = 2,000,000 ns
2 μs = 2,000 ns
