It is true that the more connected we are, the less we are connected. Before television, people used their back yards for recreation. They sat on their porches, and walked across the street to visit with neighbors. Today, they stay inside in the airconditioning, watch television, or get online, and that is the content of their social interaction. As a result, we are more distrusting and paranoid of those around us.

Try calling 911 during a medical emergency in the year 1849. See how quickly an ambulance responds.

Our ancestors would kill for what we have now days. And they'd probably want to kill us for wasting and abusing these creations...

In a way I agree--as people become too busy playing with their new "toys" to have relationships with real people.

Isn't it the PC, TV satellite, etc. that people refer to, though, when they say the world is becoming smaller and smaller? We now communicate with people all over the world--we know their news, and they know ours...

the handphone and PC helped me get closer to my friends, because i can communicate with them anytime, anywhere. TV and video helps somewhat, too, because people can now share common interests and see what's going on.

so i guess i'm one of those people who would deny?

you are very right. it is turning people into detached inhuman robotic creatures who are less human than anyone knows. only time will prove how im;portant what you say really is. it is shifting the humanity of each culturre and going against nature. what will it shift to? scary human-like creatures with shallow, suferficial connections with each other. shallow and certainly loveless and able to destroy each other with litttle or no consciiences. sci fi cratures who don't really feeel anything but cheap thrills.
