Doesn't seem logical that an engine that is barely 4 years old needs to be replaced because of a jumped timing chain, hence resulting in valve damage. How common is this problem with these 2.2 engines?

i own a repair shop,,and on a 2.2 its a common thing,,i get them in the shop with less than 50 thousand miles on them that have jumped,,but its not an interference engine,,so it shouldn't have damaged any valves at all,,i have did a few of them, and have only seen one with any valve damage to it,,but the chain and gears do go out a lot,,the replacement chain will last good, but the factory one is made of a softer metal, and they don't last good,,i hope this help,s.good luck with it.
