The order goes tenths, hundredths, thousandths, etc. Therefore, since 7 is the first number after the decimal point, 7 is in the tenths place. The next number, 8, is in the hundredths place, etc.

As you progress from left to right, each position is one tenth of the position before it. In your example, the 5 is 50000 (5 x 10000) ; the 4 is 4000 (4 x 1000); the 7 is 700 (7 x 100) and so on.
Following this pattern, you should see that before the decimal point you find 1's (ie units). After the decimal point you get figures that are one tenth of those before it. - tenths!

The tenths place would is always the number behind the decimal.
EXAMPLE: Let's say you have the number 123.456. Since the tenths place would be behind the decimal it would be the 4.

the places go like normal excpt there is no ones place
so it goes tenths, hundreaths, thousanths, ten-thousanths, hundread- thousanths, millionths, ten-millionths, and so on
