Yes,i'll give you some tips:beautiful hair highlights at home.
Highlights consist of selecting small or thick strands of hair that are then lightened at least 2 shades lighter than the rest of your hair. Highlights should compliment your natural or artificial color. You should never go more than 3 shades lighter then the rest of your hair color. The object of highlighting is to give you a sun-kissed look and to bring depth and light to your overall color.
So if you want to achieve salon perfect results at home when you highlight your hair, here's what the pros say:
Use a clarifying shampoo on your hair at least two days before coloring.
Never shampoo the day you color.
Check the expiration date on the package. And once you mix the color, use it right away!
Toss out the brush that comes in the box and buy flat 1/2 and 1/4 inch acrylic brushes. These brushes, used by artists, are available at art supply stores (they'll give you better control and more natural-looking results)
Make sure you have on hand a pair of good, tight-fitting latex gloves (the ones that come in the package don't always fit well).
Start from the back of your head and work forward. By working from back to front, you won't smear the pieces in front by having to reach over them to do the back.
Apply the highlights only to the top layers of your hair. By leaving the hair underneath alone, you'll create depth and a sun-kissed look that looks completely natural!
Ok Good Luck!

you seem cute as you are. getting highlights wont make you look gay. But I personally do not like guys with highlights, especially on a dark hair, dark eyes guy... looks way too unnatural, if you know what I mean, but if that is what you are going for and it may look particularly good on you then GO FOR IT!! supply store, sure why not, save you some money (only $7) but try to get someone to help you, like a sis, or girlfriend.....or do yourself but follow directions precisely... or go to a salon, somewhere, and be prepared to pay some $$... .and ummm also, give it a few days until you get used to your hair, you may not like it the first day but give a week and it will look just right. good luck!!

First of all do what you like! What other people think should be secondary! Lots of men get highlights. The thing is that you shouldnt get chunky highlights. Unless you are going for the punk rocker or surfer dude look. LOL Going to a beutician and asking for a natural looking highlight. Sort of "sunkissed". Of course I dont know what you look like and I dont know what kind of style you are rockn, but go with what suites you. If you try and dont like it, then go to wal-mart and find a dye that is close to the natural color of your hair and dye it back. Do what feels good, life is too short not to!

Definately get it done professionally! And go for a lighter version of your hair colour! So it doesn't look too fake! And make sure to not let your roots get too long! Otherwise it will be obvious you've had some 'work' done ;-) I cannot stress enought to get a natural looking color! And remember once you have put bleach in it...it will lighten in the sun. So easy does it w/the contrast. You want something to just 'warm' up your face ;-) good luck

yes, go to a salon, and remember, you are worth the money, our looks are our calling card in the working world. Check out Dr. 90210 on TV. This year he has gone lighter also, His hair is dark like yours and he has the dark eye color. also check out www.sebastian.com they have the top of the line hair products. You don't find them in the stores because they would outsell any thing out there. good luck...

I think your age allows it. I've had it done, but I'm an entertainer (straight). I'd get it done the first time. Also depends on the atmosphere where you work. I'd do it.
I can't believe anyone would refer to this as gay but insist a guy shave every hair on his body and call that normal like girls do these days.

i'm a guy and highlighted my own hair. Why did I do it? because of the fact i desired to, i did no longer care what people thought, and you are able to desire to no longer the two. do exactly no longer do it the comparable time as your individuals, different than that, have relaxing with your hair and don't approximately people.
