I know where your coming from. Just look at it like this. While it sort of makes you feel like your not getting his attention like you want, and he acts like he enjoys the video games more than you, be thankful, he is right there playing those games. He could be out at a strip bar putting house hold expense money into some gals g-string or out with a girl he met at work. Better to know he is at home, right?

It doesn't bother me at all. He doesn't play that much and I sometimes ask him if he wants to play some more of whatever game he hasn't beaten yet. Then I sit and watch him play for however long he plays.
I like playing video games too on occasion. I haven't played in a couple months though.

I used to hate it,but then I started playing video games all the time just to bug him. Now,we have a game night where we play video games together.

Jesus, I don't think I've ever dated a man who played video games. Most of the men I date don't even watch T.V. Some don't have cell phones (I have neither a cell phone nor a T.V.).
I'm not sure I'd be compatible with a man who played video games. I'd think they were stuck in some kind of ongoing adolescence.

well my husband just bought a ps2 on the grounds that he wouldn't let it consume him. so he usually only plays it when i am gone. he bought a Sims game so we can play it together. if it bugs you and you have not told him then you should tell him. but you might be overreacting too. i mean if he only plays it like 4 to 8 hours a week than its probably not that big a deal. but if it is like 20-40 plus hours a week then maybe you should freak out about it.

Good question! It doesn't really bother me unless he's sitting there for HOURS and HOURS playing! I'm ok if he's playing for a little bit, but I get annoyed when he's playing ALL DAY because I would like to spend some time with him. He's usually understanding about it though.

I don't understand why you women hate it so much. If your man is in the house and not out in the streets doing who knows what what difference does it make. If he doesnt try to stop you from shopping, watching tv or whatever it is that you enjoy why are you complaining about him playing games?

God, yes. He can play all he wants when I'm out or doing something else, but every day? It does start to feel like a contest I'm losing. Sometimes it seems like he comes home to his Xbox, not to me.
I know he needs to unwind, but it bugs the h*ll out of me when he will do that for mindless hours and then complain when I want to talk to him. I'm sure guys have a VERY different viewpoint on this!!!

I won't even buy a video game system because I'm scared that I will neglect my family. My son is 5 and I bought him a handheld educational leapster video game that he loves, but I would not buy anything for myself.

Your question is under Marriage & Divorce and you stated "significant other." Sounds like you have bigger issues with your relationship than just video games. Could this guy be just too immature to be anything other than an "other"? Maybe it's time you moved-on to someone who's mature enough to marry and spends his valuable time making money or saving lives.
