you make a very good point.
I left America because it was so materialistic and went to India, and was disappointed that India is nearly just as materialistic as America.
Well, the middle and upper classes, anyhow.
I think there are still lots of people in India who live a simple life and who are not materialistic.
I think we should learn from these people
I think it is possible to have a fulfilling life filled with love and happiness and satisfaction without being very materialistic
Good luck, and let me know if you have any ideas of how to spread these human values! The world can certainly use more people thinking like you and me!

Hi, Javed. Man is selfish by nature. As long as we are hungry, we preach communistic philosophy. When the hunger is relieved and affluency gained, we become capitalistic. We wish to enjoy life at each and every moment. We never think of others who are poor and down-trodden. Greed pervades our mind. We join the rat-race running for the never ending goal of enjoument. We never bother about the lives of others. Our self-interest only prevails. This has become the routine of human life. This can be transformed if you and I try to find the new way of living!

Unfortunately we now live in a profit driven world, where the owning of "stuff" is a measure of how successful we have become. It enables us to show our peers how well we are doing, and our "perceived" betters that we're getting to be as good as them.
Sadly for most people this is their prime motivation. We tend to define ourselves by what we do not who we are.

We've been doing it for thousands of years. Why do you expect it would stop now?
On the bright side, there have also been very selfless good people around to inspire.
