Sometimes.....usually I just feel awkward though, like I'm so petty I will stand here and wait for you to fumble around the register for three cents. You can find more than that on your way back to your car.

for 1 to 4 cents, I do not wait but tell the person to put
it in the little dish that has pennies in it, next to the cash
register

Yes I wait for two reasons:

A) I save all my change in a jar. I'm not just going to "throw away" money

B) It is kind of rude to let the cashier just hang there with YOUR change....

I don't wait for pennies. I have too many in a jar at home. And don't feel like putting them in penny rolls you HAVE to buy now.

i wait for the pennies, then toss them in the penny tray on the counter for others who are just a penny short that day. which reminds me...alot of people do this, where are all thoes pennies going? not everybody uses them. so where do they end up?

I usually just tell them to put it in whatever jar happens to be there at the time to raise money for someone or in their 'take a penny' bowl.

Yes, bcuz I think I might offend the cashier by telling her to keep it. It's such a small amount to count as a tip, plus they don't really get tips, etc..

I am poor and there has been times when a penny means a loaf of bread for your family or not.
