I live in a nice neighborhood; we have bums but most of them we sent off to serve in public office. There is a bum that sometimes sleeps on the hood of my car. I tell him "Son did you look for a job today?" However if I saw a stranger doing this, first I would avoid thinking of him as a bum and try to see him as someone down on their luck; and try to talk with him about other sleeping arrangements.

I would check to see if he/she needed some help. For instance, are they sick or injured? If not, then I would ask him not to sleep on the hood of my car, but tell him where he can get a good night sleep, food and protection at the local homeless shelter or church.

Get in the car, lock the doors, start the engine and if that isn't clue enough to get off I would back up so he would fall off. Mean, no... you have to admit that guy had to be drunk or high to sleep on your car.

Ask him if he's alright.He may be looking for warmth from the engine.If you don't want to fix him a nice warm bowl of soup then call the cops.
