On January 9, 2007, Steve Jobs announced that the iPhone will be offered in two configurations with two different prices, based on a 2-year phone service contract: a 4 GB model for USD$499, and a 8 GB model for USD$599. You can browse the official Apple website or Wikipedia for more information. Hope this helps.
