I own a nail salon and the best way to get your nails to grow is to manicure them.......either on your own or done by a professional. Like George said, push your cuticles back gently. To keep them white, soak them in a glass bowl with an effervessant tablet like the ones for dentures.........Fixadent, I thinks it's called. Just to clarify..........it's not a fungus that makes nails yellow; it's the just the elements of life like smoking or even wearing nail polish often. There are many nail hardeners that you can buy, but the best one that I've dealt with is Nail Tek Advanced Hydration which you can buy at professional salons only. Good luck!

Eat and or drink lots of Jello/Gelatin. What I mean by drink you can dissolve the usual packet of gelatin mix in 1/2 cup of boiling water, then add about a quart of cold water & ice. Drink up it's very tasty, like koolaid or such, and it's actually very good for you. Not only does it help with your nails & hair, but it helps the cartilage between your bones as well.

Prenatal vitamins make your fingernails and hair FAB....then, keep them shaped, to reduce getting them caught on something and breaking, and the sally hansen hard as nails polish. As long as you keep your utensils clean, you shouldn't get the fungus that causes the nails to yellow.....ohhhh, and don't smoke, smoking will also turn your nails yellow.
