why do people who care about others always get screwed? How can people not care about others? I want to not care

You will probably reject this, but Imagine how empty you would be if you could see things or people and not feel anything. If you have no emotions (pity, love, gratitude, whatever), what's the use in existing at all? Anyone that lives like this has a hateful spirit and should be avoided. They will bring you down (Karma, dig it?).

I too feel the good guy finishes last. I have been crapped on. But not always...It's the intermitten rewards that make it worthwile.

Keep on fighting.

Good and Bad people suffer.

People who care suffer because they have put time, care, and energy in a relationship/friendship/person/thing/etc. Once we do that and are not treated nicely on any (some) occasion, it hurts because we expect the same "respect/kindness/care/etc.

Second, to not care takes just as much energy because we have been taught to care and to try and reverse that will take a lot of anger/disrespect/sleepless nights/etc.

Caring cost but I would have it no other way.

P.S. Instead of not caring, grown tougher skin. Best of luck.

Not caring is a lot worse. Your premise is that bad people who don't care about others don't suffer. That's just patently wrong. Bad people suffer more. Sure, you can find the occassional bad person who lives to a ripe old age, but that doesn't prove your point. If you don't care, people won't care about you and then you will suffer from loneliness, etc.

You can't stop caring. It's just in you. Everybody suffer. If Jesus went through what he did for us. You know we are not going to live in this world and not have any problems. Remember the storm don't last always. And everything happens for a reason. We may not understand. But it's God's way.

Everybody gets screwed from time to time. Good people are hurt more because they are more sensitive and feel that they deserve it less.
In the overall scheme of things life balances and the people who do bad receive the appropriate punishment whereas people who do good get rewarded.

it is the same as the old billy joel song, "only the good die young". It doesn't look too promising for me because I care too much for people, mostly the elderly and underdogs.

no dude-that(not caring) would render you a sociopath(SO NOT HOT!) You just need to align yourself with someone who WON'T trample your feelings/heart....advice: DON'T GIVE YOUR HEART AWAY TO JUST ANYONE...take the time to really get to know the person before you go there...

maybe that's their purpose in life...better at caring for others than allowing others to care for them??
