Hello, I want to change my shocks to KYB GR-2 in my 1997 Maxima. The auto repair shop wanted to charge me 520 dollars. Is that a fair price? Any comments are welcome. Thank you.

Again, you need a spring compressor (so you don't get killed) and they are struts which are hard to do. I think it's a fair price.

Struts are what you have, not shocks, there is a difference :) It sounds like a really good price to me. If you dont know how to do them, and have done them before, I do not recommend doing them. I remember a time when my dad and I were doing struts, and we were both experienced, and a spring popped off because it was not on good, could have killed us both at the speed it was going. Just to give you an idea of the danger of it if you are inexperienced. Go have a pro do them if you are not a pro yourself :)

Yes. $400 for all 4 plus install = $520 is a very good price.

You have struts on your vehicle.

If you are uncomfortable with the quote your mechanic issued you, then perhaps you should get several quotes just for piece of mind.
