History says Stalin, given he conquered half of Europe and created a massive Empire, whereas Hitler terrified of the Russian's advance on Berlin blow his brains out with a Luger in a dirty bunker. Both were insane, but neither dropped two atomic bombs on the retreating enemy.

As similar these two might seem, they are actually very different. Hitler was German, and Stalin was Russian obviously. But what else? Well Hitler was a very smart man actually. He began in Germany, originally trying to gain power overtaking the German gov't during the "Beer Hall Putsh". This was a failure, because he did not secure the communication lines. Hitler then later rose to the ranks being second in command when Germany's leader was ill. He arranged for himsellf to be chancellor, then later the complete ruler of Germany. He used the "stab in the back" theory regarding why Germany lost WWI to boost nationalism and gain support. This also created anti semitism. Hitler actually really disliked Stalin, yet tried to manipulate him. Stalin gained power after Lenin died. In order to secure his position, he forced Trotsky to be exiled to Argentina. He then manipulated history by editing photos of Trotsky to make it as he never existed. Stalin then named himself "Czar" which was the supreme ruler of the Soviet Union. Stalin was a very paranoid person, often going into exclusion. For some reason though, Stalin trusted Hitler. The day the Germans invaded Russia, Stalin had actually a train of supplies sent out towards Germany to aid in their war effort. Stalin was supposedly so shocked by this attack he had a nervous breakdown. Stalin then teamed up with the allies, and then eventually marched into Germany at the end of the war. These two men were very different though. Hitler believed in the supreme race, calling them "Arians". Hitler only killed jews, defects, and people who aided his enemies. Stalin killed his own people, even going as far as killing his own secret police officers. Hilter was more of a manipulator than anything else. Stalin was more paranoid and unorganized. Stalin did though pushed Russia into the industrial age. This is only the tip of the ice burg between the two though.

I consider them both pretty evil. Consider this, Stalin's mass killings were mostly before WW II (100,000 a year), and mostly from his purges and 'collectivization in early 30's with the latest estimate of around 20-30 million dead. His genocide wasn't a full time occupation to his death, unlike Hitler, but that's where the comparison stops. When comparing the two, both were evil, both put people in concentration camps, both committed genocide, both were dictators, both...well you get the picture. The one factor Hitler had over Stalin tho, Hitler was insane. Stalin was just angry and distrustful.

Other things to consider,Stalin killed more people, Hitler started WW II, Hitler killed the Jews and some people in his nation, but he started the war that resulted in many troops dying on both sides. Hitler may be considered the greater of both evils; tho Stalin killed more people it is said, Hitler's action ensured that those loses were as high as possible.

It is my conclusion that Hitler may be the 'evil-er" of them all, but comparing the them is ludicrous, now that i think about it, so just forget about it!

Congratulations, you have spotted that this pair were madmen. Look closer and you will see a large number of leaders are madmen and madwomen too. Somebody once said 'power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.' And he was called Lord Acton (see link.)

I originally thought this was going to be a sort of boxing question and was going to point out that neither of these cowards ever did fight each other. Like most nutters in charge of countries they prefer to let everybody else do the actual fighting, sound familiar?

Both were crazy, mad freaks. But consider this: Stalin helped bring WWII to an end.

They were both mad and paranoid. But I hate to think what would have happen if they together had wanted to take over the world.
