Who was the first president? I'm not talking about George Washington. My teacher said that there was a un-elected president before him.

Your teacher was right. There was a couple men before him that ran the country, but I cannot remember their names.

EDIT: The first "President," whose title was President of the First Continental Congress, was Peyton Randolph, whose service began on September 5, 1774. He was succeeded by Henry Middleton on October 22, 1774, but served only five days.

Peyton Randolph became the first President of the Second Continental Congress on May 10, 1775, and served two weeks. He was succeeded by John Hancock on May 24, 1775, who was succeeded by Henry Laurens on November 1, 1777, then John Jay (December 10, 1778), and Samuel Huntington (September 28, 1779), who served until the Article of Confederation were adopted on March 1, 1781, then served as the first President of the United States in Congress Assembled until July 9, 1781.

Before the 1788 ratification of the Constitution, there was no comparable figure with executive authority. Individuals who presided over the Continental Congress during the Revolutionary period and under the Articles of Confederation had the title "President of the United States of America in Congress Assembled", often shortened to "President of the United States". There were 10 such "Presidents" under the Articles of Confederation, the first being Samuel Huntington. George Washington was the first "President of the United States" under the Constitution.

There is an "Urban Legend" that the third President of "Congress Assembled", John Hanson, was the the first "President of the United States" However, this claim seems rather dubious to me.

Your teacher contradicts him/herself. A President is elected, and if one is not elected, then one cannot possibly be the President. Did your teacher just stop after he/her told you there was a president before Washington? Why didn't your teacher tell you who it was? Does you teacher know?

To answer your question; George Washington, he was indeed the first President.
