I know that in dreams everything is symbolic. What do death and funerals symbolize?

Whether I believe in the interpretation of dreams or not, is beside the point.

You asked the question, and here is a great site to not only help with your "death and funeral" theme... but also with other dreams in the future.

It means different things in different cultures. For example, in the Southern United States, it is believed if you dream of a funeral, it represents a wedding. Don't know how that one started but many people believe it.

Some dream analysts claim any dream of death or anything related thereto is indicative of coming change in your life, that you are about to put aside "bury" one part of your life and embark upon another. It could be something as simple as moving to another house/apartment, changing jobs or changing boy/girlfriends.

On the other hand, perhaps you are just drawn to death, funerals and cemeteries and there's nothing wrong with that.

When I was a teenager, I used to dream of death and funerals but it wasn't considered unusual at that time because we all watched a gothic soap opera called "Dark Shadows" where people died--and returned--all the time. TV shows, movies, books, the internet, etc. can also influence dreams.

Death represents an end. Funerals represents life without a love one.

For your dreams, it just means transition. Something ended and something started.

The are more complicated interpretations, however, when you have this dream, roll over and go back to bed. The is nothing that you can do that will change it.

I know most of us are afraid of dying, but if you have something close to a phobia, then I'm pretty sure you would dream of death and funerals, that is if you never admit it. Usually, repressed thoughts and feelings creep out in our dreams.

It could be a number of things- a fear of losing someone you love, fear of dying, losing something precious, losing someone in your life (not necessarily them dying- just them no longer being in your life).
