Good answer Tony D., I am a former smoker. every time I quit, I gain truck loads of weight, and please don't make the erroneous assumption that I over eat. Anyone who knows me, would tell you otherwise if you asked them. When I smoked, staying small, was almost effortless. My metabolism was very high when I smoked, and went through the floor when I quit. But, I made the choice to quit, and it is my choice to find another way to get rid of the weight without going back to cigarettes. I still believe that the choice should be left up to the individual. Except for the weight problem, I like being a non-smoker, but I know that quitting can be miserably hard for some people, and should not be forced!!!

I am a smoker and I will tell you this another example of censorship. We are loosing allot of are rights because the government wants a tight leash on all Americans. I truly believe that we are going to end up like other country's that cant even talk freely. I am a true believer in my country and wish that the government would realize that the freedom of speech is being taken away. Why do we have a constitution that is being rewritten right before are eyes.

I agree that government is taking it way to far. I used to have four season tickets to a professional football team and they created a ban on smoking in an outside stadium. But it's OK for jerks to drink beer and throw cans and make others miserable.
If I was at a game and a person asked me to not smoke because it bothered them I would have gladly put it out. or gone to an area where it was OK. but the Govt has stopped all that.

I'm with you on the JPS Capri, I love that car.
And another thing, if they wanted people to stop smoking so badly, they would ban the sale of cigarettes, but then they would lose a fortune in tax revenue so that's not going to happen any time soon.
I'm afraid we'll have to put up with it.
I'm a non smoker but each to their own.

I think if anyone is stupid enough to smoke in the first place they should be encouraged to smoke as much as possible, inevitably creating a massive waiting list for lung and heart operations that the NHS can't cope with. Consequently, allowing stupid smokers to die a slow, horrible death in the comfort of their own smoke filled room. Come on smokers, have another!!

Nah - it had to be done. I am an ex-smoker and I shudder to think I used to do this to my body. Here in Scotland, smoking is banned virtually everywhere - and it is a much more pleasant place to live in because of it Now I wish they would do something about alcohol abuse as statistics show that a staggering 90% of violent crime is commited through drink.

Absolutely! They just banned smoking in our city. No smoking in any restaurants,bars,public places or like 10 or 15 feet to any entrance of a public place. punishable by a $50.00 fine. The second offence is $400.00. Just another way for the rich to get richer,and smokers to pay for it...

I think it's a waste of money. People will always do things that are not the healthiest. But I also believe that smoking is not a cause of cancer. It is a carcinogen and thus is not necessarily healthy for the human body and can attribute to cancer, but it isn't a root cause. (Trophoblast theory for one)

I think one thing lacking in most people is lack of personal responsibility, replaced with the idea that government should do something for them. Our Constitution created a primarily do-nothing government, but I digress.

I smoke a pack a day, and no... I have no problem at all with the government's no smoking campaign. If anything I'd like to see it increased.
