Good answer Tony D., I am a former smoker. every time I quit, I gain truck loads of weight, and please don't make the erroneous assumption that I over eat. Anyone who knows me, would tell you otherwise if you asked them. When I smoked, staying small, was almost effortless. My metabolism was very high when I smoked, and went through the floor when I quit. But, I made the choice to quit, and it is my choice to find another way to get rid of the weight without going back to cigarettes. I still believe that the choice should be left up to the individual. Except for the weight problem, I like being a non-smoker, but I know that quitting can be miserably hard for some people, and should not be forced!!!

I am a smoker and I will tell you this another example of censorship. We are loosing allot of are rights because the government wants a tight leash on all Americans. I truly believe that we are going to end up like other country's that cant even talk freely. I am a true believer in my country and wish that the government would realize that the freedom of speech is being taken away. Why do we have a constitution that is being rewritten right before are eyes.

I agree that government is taking it way to far. I used to have four season tickets to a professional football team and they created a ban on smoking in an outside stadium. But it's OK for jerks to drink beer and throw cans and make others miserable.
If I was at a game and a person asked me to not smoke because it bothered them I would have gladly put it out. or gone to an area where it was OK. but the Govt has stopped all that.

I'm with you on the JPS Capri, I love that car.
And another thing, if they wanted people to stop smoking so badly, they would ban the sale of cigarettes, but then they would lose a fortune in tax revenue so that's not going to happen any time soon.
I'm afraid we'll have to put up with it.
I'm a non smoker but each to their own.

I think if anyone is stupid enough to smoke in the first place they should be encouraged to smoke as much as possible, inevitably creating a massive waiting list for lung and heart operations that the NHS can't cope with. Consequently, allowing stupid smokers to die a slow, horrible death in the comfort of their own smoke filled room. Come on smokers, have another!!

Nah - it had to be done. I am an ex-smoker and I shudder to think I used to do this to my body. Here in Scotland, smoking is banned virtually everywhere - and it is a much more pleasant place to live in because of it Now I wish they would do something about alcohol abuse as statistics show that a staggering 90% of violent crime is commited through drink.

Absolutely! They just banned smoking in our city. No smoking in any restaurants, bars, public places or like 10 or 15 feet to any entrance of a public place. punishable by a $50.00 fine. The second offence is $400.00. Just another way for the rich to get richer, and smokers to pay for it...

I think it's a waste of money. People will always do things that are not the healthiest. But I also believe that smoking is not a cause of cancer. It is a carcinogen and thus is not necessarily healthy for the human body and can attribute to cancer, but it isn't a root cause. (Trophoblast theory for one)

I think one thing lacking in most people is lack of personal responsibility, replaced with the idea that government should do something for them. Our Constitution created a primarily do-nothing government, but I digress.

I smoke a pack a day, and no... I have no problem at all with the government's no smoking campaign. If anything I'd like to see it increased.
