I'm in a class, and for some reason...sheer memorization is not working. Is there a better way to associate where they are located and what they are? It seems to me that there is like no real pattern and it's bugging me!!!
Thanks

There is a pattern.
First of all, there are only seven notes. That's pretty easy to remember. A, B, C, D, E, F, G. They are ALWAYS in alphabetical order. There is always a space (fret) between A and B, C and D, D and E, F and G, and there is never a space (fret) between B and C or E and F. The notes on the 12th fret are the same as the notes played open on that string.
As far as memorization is concerned, the more you play the guitar, and the more time that goes by, you will automatically start remembering where certain notes are on the neck. Personally, I tell my students to close their eyes and concentrate on listening, hearing, and sound - because that's what music is. Don't get to overly bogged down with the mechanics or mathematics of it all. If it sounds good to you - you did it right, regardless what grade some "music theory" teacher gives you for technique.

Bottom to top(small string first), every boy goes down after eating.
Top to bottom(large string first), every *** does good between ego trips.
