I m thinking about getting my tubes tied . I am pregnant with my 3rd child and am due in 2-3 more weeks . My husband and i have talked about it but his concern is am i to young ? which by the way I am 23 . My concerns are does it affect on how you loose weight and do you have to take hormone shots afterwards . Does it make you feel chemically unbalnaced ? Anyone out there please give me stories or advice . My doctor says it is up to us where I have had 3 kids he will do it due to the fact I have severe asthma but that is the main reason and basically only reason why he will do it .

by the way if i do get my tubes tied this is the only time i can do it is when I deliver due to my health with my asthma . the doctor says if i decide to do it when i deliver he will . After that he won't due to the anistsia they put you under . He feels it is not safe with my asthma . But he feels it is safe when i am under the epidural when i deliver in 2-3 weeks .

No hormonal changes occur with a tubaligation. The ovaries make the hormones, and they aren't affected at all. It shouldn't affect weight loss, and no need for hormone shots. A tubaligation simply blocks off the tube. that's it.

You are young. And although you feel sure now that you don't want anymore children, you may change your mind later. Believe me, people do it all the time. Have you considered an iud? Google for mirena iud. Very good birth control, good for five years. They put it in during a routine office visit. Not a big deal. You could get it at your 6 week check up. and when the five years is up, you can get another one put in the same day the take out the first one. Talk to your doctor about this.

or you could just have your husband get fixed. you've had three babies. No reason he can't endure a bit of pain for you this time.

This is a serious step you are about to take. You need to consider the fact that you will not be able to have kids again. Unless you untie the tubes. You are still young, why don't you try another form of birth control for a year or so, and then see how you may feel then.
The procedure could cause some minor problems, as all procedures usually do.
If your health is a stake, then you need to think of the kids you have now, and the one you are about to have. Also your husband.
Mind you, this is a serious matter, that should not be taken lightly. Really listen to your husband and the doctor.
Everything should be okay, if you are prepared for this procedure.
Get all the facts, and think hard about your decision.
God does not like any child to be neglected, so if times are hard for you, and your family. Then maybe go ahead with this step.

With the birth of my last child I had a laproscopy tubiligation. This means I had my tubes cut, tied, and burned. I did not suffer any side effects and it did not cause me to gain weight, nor have problems losing the weight after my daughter was born. As long as you are certain that you want no further children, then I don't think you need to worry about any of these other things. But, just be certain this is what you truly want and I would discuss it further with your husband since he seems reluctant for you to do this. Best wishes to you.

I was 26 when I had mine done. They were cut and tied. Ten years later I was pregnant!
How you ask? One of the tubes grew and reconnected! I miscarried , and this time I had them cut and SEWN into the uterus. No more mistakes . Been ok ever since, no side effects , only the thought that you cant get pregnant, which makes love making all the more relaxed. Mind you, if you are really doubtful, get the hubby to front up instead!!only problem with that is, he can go and have a good night out with anyone and no 'after effects'!!!!Mind you, spose you could too.!!!All needs careful thinking about, doesnt it?

Well you are very young still even though you have 2 and 1 almost out children you may want more later on. Are you sure that is what you want to do? I have a friend who "tied" her tubes she fine. She has gained no weight she still gets a period. And she still feel like a woman. Its up to you. Condoms a good though. Good Luck.

I got my tubes tied 16 months ago during my third c-section. Since then I haven't felt any difference at all. But sometimes I wish I would be the one that got preggers anyway. Not right now but somewhere down the line. Ya know? It's good to be sure you want it done-----forever.

I'm having my second child in May and I'm having mine done. I have had friens and relatives that have had it done and they say nothing changes. You still have your hormone balance and everything. Your probably like me, I'm afraid of the knife more than anything. I was with my BF when she had hers done then reversed to have her son years later and then got them done again and she has never had a problem. Maybe we won't either.
