k here's my story of three weeks ago.
I was shaking the whole way to the piercing place. I was terrified since im a wimp and afraid of needles. I went into the piercing place with my step-mom and waited. the place looked very clean like a dr. office and everything was sanitary. the piercer took me and my step-mom into a back room where he had me roll up my shirt and he had me stant in front of him while he marked it with a purple marker he then had me lay down on a sort of bed/reclining chair he then put clamps that looked a little like over sized tweezers with a hole in them he then put a steril needle through the skin, which stung for about three seconds then he put the ring in and I was done but since I had gotten all worked up for nothing I was feeling sick to my stomach and I ran to the bathroom to throw up then it was over
but you have to eat before hand or you will pass out so you choose most ppl either pass out or throw up
have any more questions
email me at
tootsie.roii@yahoo.com
I'd be glad to help
oh and it will be sore for about a week but it's been three weeks for me now and it looks great and is healing nicely. I'm not sore at all any more and can even sleep on my belly again. Yay!! I kinda missed that

Hi! i got my belly button pierced when i was 17 by a friend that was a paramedic.
back then, another friend, a first responder (somewhere between emt:b and simple first aid) told me i should use a cream on it to help it heal faster.
well, she was stupid, and my belly button didn't heal for months. finally after about six weeks, my medic friend asked me if i'd listened to him about the alcohol, and i told him yes, except i'd also been using this other stuff, and he told me to 'quit using redneck cures and just use the alcohol.' a couple weeks later it was healed up. during those first weeks though, if anyone asked, i told them it wasn't worth it. but now, several years later, i'm still very happy with my belly ring, and honestly, i'm sad about when i eventually get pregnant and have to take it out (because apparently, if it isn't healed up by the time your belly starts to stretch, it looks like a giant red target)
but the big question is, do you wear belly shirts? is it even going to be worth it for you? because i wear belly shirts all the time in the summer, so having a piercing is actually worth it. but if you dont ever wear belly shirts, i wouldn't reccomend it, because it'd be like buying sexy teddies without a boyfriend....no one gets to see it, so why bother?
thats my two cents. i love mine...but be ready for it. while some people will say it looks cute or hot, others freak out and say things like "OOooo aren't you !@#! cool!?!?"
I got mine pierced because i wanted it. it's a piercing you can cover up, yet bare to the world if you get the wild hair. if you want it, go for it.... (defenitly see if you have any medic friends though, because they make it a lot cheaper, and with topical pain killers, less painful. i didn't even feel it when he pierced the skin!)

Make sure it's a repuatable establishment and follow the directions of caring for your piercing ...You can go into an establishment and ask them to explain the procedure, usually they have books to look at of different piercings etc..Ask around in your community about the establishment , then decide~
Best of Luck*~

Never mind your skin...don't get it pierced because it looks nasty. I don't know how this piercing craze got started, but it's not in the least attractive. Just looks like a big, shiny zit!
