Do squats, lunges, leg presses and core workouts. But it's a long process. It'll take several months of a really hard regimen to see results.

PS. I don't think that being able to grab the rim will make you any better than you already are. While vertical jump is important in basketball, John Stockton and Steve Nash have proven that you don't need to jump high to be a great player.

I have seen some jump training shoes at many sporting goods stores, my friend bought a pair, he is 6' 2" and can now dunk easily. Also I have done jump streches to increase my vertical it seems to work, I can dunk, although I dont need to jump all that high to dunk, I'm 6'7". I hope this has helped.

before you are about to play, you should wear ankle weights for a while. these help because they make your feet heavier by like 10 pounds altogether. when you take them off you feel very light and will have mad hops. you can buy ankle weights at your basic sports store.
