There are jobs in Washington, DC where they do that. You have to work ten-hour days in the summer to take off every Friday. People choose Fridays because then they get to the beach early and get in some tanning.
I did it, but I chose to have Mondays off.

I do work extra hours in order to have a three day weekend. I get Friday thru Sunday off.

I don't work anymore, but when I did, I would gladly work extra hours to avoid "Miserable Mondays".
