Don't eat right before bed - if you must have a snack, make sure it's something healthy like fruit and not junk food. I used to have nightmares every single night and when I asked the doctor about it, that's the advice he gave me. I had been eating a ton of junkfood before bed.

Every person is different. In my situation, junkfood does not cause me to have nightmares. I can freely eat anything. However, there are two causes that do cause terrible dreams. The first is sleeping in absolute darkness. This problem is solved by either using nightlights or leaving the lights on in some room so there won't be complete darkness. Second, it is having something heavy placed on the chest while sleeping. This never fails to give a nightmare. It could be a heavy blanket or most commonly my hands placed across the chest. Maybe the heart has a problem pumping blood?

Yes there are various ways to stop yourself from having creepy dreams. My way is to make myself very exhausted, and my schedule is busy all the time so there isn't a problem with that. In that way, your REM sleep is connected with soothing thoughts overnight.

Yes pray before you go to sleep. Ask Jesus to guide you through your rest period. Ask him to take away those bad dreams, and Jesus will do those things for you so that you could get a good nights rest

Just before going to sleep, fold your hands over your chest (heart) and ask God to bring His peace over you. You'll feel His presence and go right to sleep with really great dreams. Try it, this really works!
