To allow manufacturing and sale of Gutkha, Tobacco products and liquor the justification given are

1. These things always continue
2. If we ban these all the workers of these sector will starve for livlihood.
3. Govt. collects lots of revenue which is used for the benefits of people

Arguement : If this is the case then the govt. should allow the same for diluted charas, Ganja, Heroin and Brown Sugar. These things have always been there. People are using it and related people are making money also. So the govt' should start selling these poisons and I assure that the consistent revenue that will be generated will be very high. We might be able to generate foriegn currency by expoprting or may be an IPO for the related fund etc.

Hi your question is multi dimensional. Govt. hv already imposed restrictions on sale of tobacco products to minors (only the fact is that implementation may not be in a complete manner), Govt. have already changed the warnings (made it more awaring "Stating that T-Prod. causes cancer) & Tobacco kills, Some of the warning like depiction of
- Skull and Bones Sign,
- Health Warning ,
- Pictorial Representation of ill effects of tobacco use

- Warnings like - i. Tobacco kills 2500 Indians everyday, ii. Your smoking kills babies, iii. Tobacco causes slow and painful death, iv. Tobacco causes mouth cancer are also in pipeline and some of 'em may be made effective / enforced in a month or two.

Therefore steps have and are being constantly taken by the Indian Govt. to curb down the menace.

Its tru that a high Revenue is being generated from the sale of T Products but I am sure if such restrictions as planned if imposed the situations may be balanced.

You are all totally confused.

One is a legal product. i.e., cigs and liquors. It is controlled thru licensing. Govt. gets revenue thru the sale.

The other is an illegal product. like hash, heroin etc.. So you effectively are saying control this one too. In effect it is. Prescribed drugs have these products. Govt. gets revenue thru these sales also.

Whether the govt. effieciently spends it on people is another question altogether. Politicians are thieves and they steal the revenue.

They are not 'poisons' as you put it. There is a need just like so many buses and cars that put out 'poisons' in the air. What todo? Ban them too?

Pssstttt........What is Gutkha? never heard of it.

The government knows and the people at the helm of affairs knw that they must ban these products. But will they? this is a very tricky question coz our system is based on the money generated by these companies. during elections these companies donate huge sums of monies to all political parties and whichever party wins, they do not have the courage or the moral strength to ban these products completely. and so the vizcious circle continues!
