How do you get a 9 month old to stop biting people. She has bit me on the face and leg. Her parents laugh at her when she does it unless she does it to them and bits hard. How can I get her to stop since they aren't trying?

We did the biting back with my nephew and he stopped but my sister was telling us to do that. This is my niece and I've thought about biting her back but I don't want her parents to get mad even though they aren't around when I'm around her. But I was trying to see if there was any other ways to stop it. I'm the one getting bit all the time not them so I want it to stop.

try biting her back lol...or popping her everytime she does it...my one year old used to do the same thing but i started doing that and she wont dare do it again because she learned it was wrong...and thats probably why she keeps doing it cause their laughing and of course she thinks its fun...good luck.

First of all, DO NOT bite her back! I can't believe people do that, how horrible! It's up to the parents to stop her biting habbit, not yours. They won't think it's so funny when she bites them good and hard, then maybe they will do something about it. A good stern NO when she does it is a start.

Ask the girls parents what they would like you to do
My son used to bite everyone we tried biting him to stop it. He stayed with my sister he bit her once and she bit him back then it stopped him altogether i was pissed she did it without asking me but i would have been fine if she asked, so ask the girls parents.
Is she teething? in that case try a chew toy or teething rusks.
Even though she is only little she will try to test the limits as little as they are they know

Bite her back "Not Too Hard" but enough so she can feel and understands that it hurts people. My niece use to bite my son all the time and since my sister wasn't taking care of it, I took it into my own hands and bit her back.she hasn't bitten anyone since

Well, don't bite her back, even if you are just trying to teach her. Are people nuts? You don't bite a 9-month old! She is not doing it maliciously. They feel everything better with their mouth, so they just bite for seemingly no reason. My son went through this phase. I just said "no no" and put him down alone when he did that. Eventually he got the picture.

i had a biter.
I'm telling you that kid bit no matter what i did. i tried reasoning, yelling, bit him back, spanking, you name it, i did it. it seemed to take forever but eventually he got the message but it took a long time!!! refuse to have the baby within biting range until the biting stops. if mom and dad are offended too bad. let them know that to you it's not funny to be bitten.
it is not a laughing matter!!!!!!!
AND STICK TO YOUR GUNS.
I'm sure mom and dad wouldn't think it was so funny if it was their baby being bitten by someone else or someones pet. it hurts and is unacceptable under any circumstances!!!

My daughter bit me only once as i used this method to stop her, if she bit you again, just put her down, show that you are angry by slightly raising your voice. Try to tap her mouth and tell her off by saying naughty girl then walk away. Dont play with her for awhile. This is how i stop my gal biting habit, hope it will help you...

The child is too young to get a spanking and the parents don't obviously care. Stop comming around the child and the parents until they get this situation under control.

Dr Phil suggested biting them back, but since you arent the parent, I would suggest it. The parents might retaliate

In my early young infants progression classification we've been taught that some infants tend to chew whilst they have a communication barrier, as an occasion he perchance attempting to tell you something yet does not have the vocabulary skills for it yet as a result problematical him and in turn could chew. he's the right age for day holiday and is familiar with the diff between particular and no then i might bypass that course or maybe like a prior submit stated approximately pushing on his lips yet perchance attempt putting mushy stress on his backside lip with it on his tooth and tell him, "see tooth injury" "do no longer chew please"
