Listen to Kenny Roger's The Gambler and take the advice. Know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, and know when to walk away.

Just kidding.

Are you talking about online or playing against real people?

This is about playing against real people:

Wear dark lens glasses to hide your eyes because the eyes don't lie. Good poker players can read what type of hand you have just by looking into your eyes.

If you're the chip leader, go after the guy who is in the middle in money count. He's got the most to lose. The guy with the short stack has nothing to lose and everything to gain when he goes all in.

Learn how to read how people play. People are creatures of habit, so pay attention when someone does something differently.

Yes, read advice, study the game, maybe hire a poker pro for online lessons. You can do it all here: http://www.church-of-texas-holdem.com

NEVER! forget your position, it's VERY important and a lot of the time people take it for granted or just forget about it after an hour of playing. Also, remember to fold....if your not holding anything good but an ace for example after the flop and your looking at a big raise, let it go, remember that folding is NOT for wimps, it's for players that use their logic.

Most of the time I try to go for something better than I already have. The more cards you hold the less chance you have of making something decent of your hand.
