I think I might be pregnant. My boyfriend and I had sex on December 20th and I was wondering, if I got pregnant then, would a pregnancy test show positive by now?

I assume you've taken the test and it came out negative.
False result is common in the first 2 months of pregnancy. Got to doctor to be sure. Tests are not 100 percent accurate.
And check your period cycle.

Did you have your last period around the first week of December?
If so, then you would be about a week late for your period, and yes a test should be accurate right now.

Everything that has to do with pregnancy revolves around your period. That is one definate way to tell where you are in your cycle, and whether or not you are pregnant. You generally ovulate 14 days after the first day of your last period. So, if you had sex around that time (give or take several days) and missed your period two weeks later, you are probably pregnant. Home pregnancy tests are usually accurate the first day of your missed period, but if it comes back negative and your period never shows, retest in a week or go to the doctor.

Keep in mind, eggs live 3-5 days, and sperm can live up to 72 hours in the female reproductive tract, so these dates can be stretched for a week or so. You can have sex three days before you ovulate and still get pregnant. Conversly, you can get pregnant up to five days after you ovulate.

Get a test if you've missed your period. If you haven't missed it, you can test to be sure, but you're probably not. Good Luck and Blessings...

A pregnancy test should show accurate results a week after your missed period.
Take the test with your first morning urine.
If it comes out negative and you still think you could be pregnant, test again a week later.
And be more careful from now on.
Use protection or don't have sex if you can't handle the consequence of pregnancy.

i would think it would show as soon as you miss your period but i think the best results would be to get a test from a doctor not a home kit.
