Yes. So if you're trying to avoid pregnancy, ALWAYS ALWAYS use birth control. If you have irregular periods and are TRYING to conceive I recommend the best book ever on the subject: "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. Very informative about how to use your own biological signs to measure your menstrual cycles, pinpoint time of ovulation, time sex in order to achieve or prevent pregnancy. It worked for me. You should read the book either way, it's important for women to be knowledgable about all aspects of their health.

Yes you can! The female reproductive system is a marvelous thing. Once a month your body prepares itself for fertilization. To do this your ovaries release an egg which then travels down the fallopian tube, were by the way fertilization takes place, to the uterus. If the egg is fertilized, it implants itself into the lining of the uterus where it is nourished by the blood that lines the uterine wall. If the egg is not fertile, this blood and mucosal lining is sluffed off, thus you have your period. Not all women are alike. Sometimes this uterine lining is just slowly absorbed or it can be mixed with other mucus so as not to be recognized as blood, therefore you are led to believe that you are not having your period. Never rely on your period as a benchmark for the rhythm method of birth control.

Yes. Doesn't matter if your periods are regular or not, what matters is IF you are ovulating. If you ovulate, then you can get pregnant.
