Become educated and try and educate others in a different culture, religion or race.
The biggest part of racism is ignorance. If one person can educate another person about a different culture, religion or race that would go a long way to reducing the amount of racism in the world. Don't let anybody tell you that one person cannot make a difference, because they can, and you don't have to be violent in order to do it.
Education is the key, and it doesn't take much to learn about a different culture, religion or race. Just type in the word at yahoo.com in the search area and you will find the answers to your questions.

Ideally by leading by example, Sadly however idealism will not change centuries of deep rooted racism, also sadly racism isn't only one way, ever thought how much a caucasian likes being called a cracker, redneck or honkey? just as much as other races dislike being abused, in my personal opinion, race isn't an issue, each man woman and child is the same, a mass of muscle, blood and nerves under various shades of skin, no more and no less, what should be judged is not a persons color, but their thoughts, actions and deeds. The only way to achieve this understanding is to educate our children and their children thoroughly as the hurt that racism has caused will take generations to put right.

So am I. I moved from a suburban area to a rural one. Racism is unfortunately alive and thriving here;. In general I find that the farther I get from a city the more racism there is. Whenever I hear a racist remark, I show my disapproval immediately. I let people know that they CANNOT exhibit their ignorance in my presence. I just will not tolerate it.

Don't even sweat it. There is no racism in the USA. Atleast not in the classical sense. It is almost reversed in this day and age. Im not sure where you comming from though, i.e. which sense of the word "racism" you are asking about.
Hopefully you are not one of those people who blame racism for insecurities, or the timeless common smallness of other people.

I'm sick of racism also, but I don't think there's anything anyone can do to stop it. It's be going on in this country since it was first discovered. All we can do is try to understand our fellow human beings no matter what race they are. We are all one, and should all try to get along with each other.
(I know that probably sounds naive, but that's how I feel personally)

As an individual you can't do anything to stop it completly. The only you can do is be objective about people instead of being subjective to the mainstream. Lean about new cultures and respect others. Lead by example so you kids will follow. They will learn from you and even begin to be more open than you are (not saying your not). Take Care

Setting as good example isn't enough. Let everyone know where you stand. Don't tolerate it. Don't remain in situations where racism is tolerated. Get loud. Call a fool a fool.

Be a light in the darkness. Treat others well, teach those around you to treat others well, and don't tolerate racism when it is in your control to stop it.

Not to be snobby but if you feel that way, maybe you should consider going back to where you came from... WE Americans feel the same way when we go to other countries.. Every Country have bad and good, its up to the individual whether or not they can deal with it.. Goes for everyone, I think.. Peace Out
