I say no for a few reasons.
1. Minimum wage paying jobs where never ment to raise a family on. They are for students and young people for earning extra money. Like flipping burgers an Burger King or Wendys.
2. Is it really my problem or the rest of Americas if "poor Bob" cant feed his family? No one made him get married and get a woman pregnant. It was the persons choice. If you cant feed them dont breed them.
3. If you raise minimum wage then the companies are gonna have to raise prices etc. This will force more jobs out of the USA. Why should they pay someone alot of money in the USA when they can pay people in China to do it for a few dimes. Or say Burger King will have to raise the price of a Burger more. Thus they will have to cut on employees and the the farmers will see the effect. Because they wont buy as much potatos etc.
And dont give me crap about not being able to afford school. I am gonna use my GI Bill I earned in the Marine Corps. I know there are many routes.

No, it doesn't need to be raised. The more it's raised, the more people will complain and want it to be raised even more. It's a never ending cycle. If you want more then minimum wage, apply for jobs that pay more then minimum wage.

2 of your 3 points are completely wrong. The minimum wage was created during the Great Depression so people could actually make some money that would help them. They were not intended for people working at Burger King because I'm pretty sure there weren't Burger Kings's in the 1930s. The minimum wage is not going to move jobs out of the US. How stupid do you have to be??? When was the last time a burger flipper and Burger King's job got outsourced to China??? The jobs that get outsourced are manufacturing and mechanics jobs for the airlines. And when was the last time you heard those workers work for 5.15 an hour??? NEVER! These workers get paid 20-30 an hour so this raise in the min wage will not affect them at all. You need to do some research before you form an opinion. Did you know that when adjusted for inflation that the current minimum wage rate is the lowest it's been since The Great Depression when it was first created??? Don't you think that hourly workers should get wage increases for inflation just like salaried workers wages are??? If the minimum wage was adjusted for inflation since it's last increase it should be around $9 and hour right now and if it was adjusted for productiviity it should be around 16-17-18 dollars. So you're arguements against the min wage are completely flawed and need to be better researched. Think of it this way. Who is more likely to spend the money??? An executive for a company who recieves a huge bonus/raise of millions of dollars or many workers who recieve a raise of a couple bucks an hour??? I would say the many workers which in turn puts more money into the economy and makes it a much much healthier economy with decreased income disparity which is among the highest that it's ever been in the country and in the world

I think you people misunderstand. The house approved a minimum wage increase. it now goes to the Senate for approval. If the Senate approves it without any addition it goes to the President for his approval. The house approved the minimum wage to go up 70 cents a year for three years. A person working 40 hours a week for 52 weeks equals $1456 a year. Now multiply that number by the number of employees where you work. Don't forget your employer pays half of your Social Security so that also cost the employer more. It is mandated they carry workers compensation on employees. this is based on paid out wages, so this also goes up. Say you have ten employees, the raise in the minimum wage has the effect of adding $18,000 to your operating expense. Where do you make up this money? You raise prices. Which in effect makes the raise null and void, and for those that earned more than minimum wage, they have lost dollar buying power. Now this is going to repeat for three years in a row.

I agree with you. That extra $1 an hr. is not going to help feed anyone. You could not survive in our city if they raised it to $10 an hr. Minimum wage is paid mostly to high school & college students or illegals. I do not think we should jeapordize small businesses to pad student & illegals pockets. Many adults depend on small businesses to support their families. There is not extra money coming into businesses so someone will be fired or laid off.

I don't believe you will use the GI Bill for college. You will probably never attend because you already have ALL the answers:)
Maybe the minimum wage was for students, but the US Corporations in their wisdom have found ways to use the low wage for part time workers in all industries in order to pay them less and alse take away medical benefits.
We need an increase in the minimum wage bigtime.
I am retired but still am willing to pay a little more.
