In the US its not very hard at all to get into college. Its just harder to stay in and finish!
It may be hard to get into some particular colleges such as ivy leagues. Get some ideas of the colleges around your area or where you would like to go to school, go on their website and request some info.
If you choose to work instead you can also apply for online colleges. I heard that they are fairly expensive.

Well lets see, it has been donkeys years since I was trying to get into college. It depends upon you. To get into the very best colleges you need to graduate from high school, with a diploma not a GED, although colleges do accept GEDS. You also need great SAT scores and great grades if you want to stand a chance of getting into an ivy league school.
It also depends upon how competitive the admissions process is and the school itself. Universities ran by a state admit residents of that state before students from out of state.
Some colleges also require an interview.
Good Luck!
