Once the baby is born the pain is pretty much over- C-section the pain last for weeks, HORRIBLE pain (I've had two). Go with the natural, unless there is a problem. The doctor won't let you have a C-section unless something is going wrong, or your really overdue.

C-section for sure. Little pain with natural childbirth after the child is born but with a c-section still pain for 2 or 3 weeks.

A natural childbirth is always best, unless you and/or the baby have health complications that prevent it. Pain should not be the issue, here. It should have more to do with your overall health, and the health of your child. The fact that natural childbirth has been shown to be less painful in the long-term is only a plus, NOT the reason to choose it over a C-section.

My first c-section was an emergency after 14 long hours of labor. That was the most pain I have ever felt. I'm on my 3rd pregnancy now and having planned c-section due to complications but if I had a choice I would do vaginal birth. With a c-section you have a month or more of healing to do and there's always a good risk for infection. And...have you ever heard those horror stories about things getting left in people after surgery? Well, try having part of a placenta left in you for 3 months and getting really ill from it. I had to have another procedure just to get it removed.

This is a really difficult question. If you have an epidural, there will still be some pain during delivery, and before you get the epidural. If you have a c/s, the pain with delivery is mainly a pulling and pressure feeling. Afterwards, no question about it. C/s is much harder to get over. More pain, pain lasts longer, higher infection rate...it goes on and on. Babies are meant to be delivered vaginally, and they breathe better afterwards. It's not naturally to be ripped into the world. Obviously, sometimes a c/s is necessary.
I'm of the opinion that everyone should attempt to deliver vaginally. Some doctors will allow you to elect for a c/s, but most good docs will try to talk you out of it.

I gave birth to my first daughter natural and I had a c-section with my second daughter.
I would have to say, if I had it to do all over again I would have a c-section for both.
Each women has different experiences when it comes to labor/delivery. I did not have any pain during or after my c-section. I had intense gas, but that was it.

C-section. A natural birth is over when the baby comes out. You have to heal after a C-section.

Lots of doctors dont give the option of a c section. Let me tell you though after having a c section myself...go for natural. I was going for a vaginal birth with an epidural but my son got stuck of all things! So I got to experience the best of both worlds. I could see his head!!!! BABIES! Anyways... Vaginal really isnt as bad as everyone says...well as long as you get that epidural lmfao. Well that is my opinion..some women have no problem with the pains of labor but I couldnt do it myself. Csections take a while to heal and it is very painful for a bit trying to walk and get around and it makes it much harder to care for your child. After all they are cutting through all of your muscles. Also sometimes it can be harder to breastfeed. Go for a vaginal birth if you can only do a c section if you HAVE to meaning medical reasons. Good luck.

A c-section is definitely less painful DURING birth. Even with medication, most doctors will stop the epidural well before it's time to push, or it may ware off. After birth, if you tore or had an episiodomy, you'll still be extremely sore. After a c-setion, it is a bit more painful (not quite pain, at least for me, but really sore), but the medication they give you helps a lot.

Normally, a C-section is either scheduled, or performed under emergency conditions.
So, if you just go in and labor progresses naturally, the only option you will have is "natural" childbirth (medicated or not).
If you have not pre-paid for your epidural, you more than likely will only be offered IV medications such as Demerol for pain control should you decide you cannot handle a non-medicated birth.
