more than one person? I'm not talking about cheating or having 2 seperate relationships. But to be madly in love with your partner, but still have love and receive loving feelings from another person such as a good male friend or ex boyfriend. Nothing physical..just a close bond...just looking for opinons. it was a topic on a local radio show awhile back. (this does not include loving your parents and your bf/gf, or loving a pet, or a friend. but to actually have room in your heart for somoen other than your significant other. ad if you think it is possible, is it ok? or is it being dihonest or un-committed?

Bond, yes. That's normal. They say you never get over your first love. I think to keep that bond a secret is being dishonest. It may seem a little strange, but I regularly talk to my husband about memories, troubles and feelings I still have for my ex-boyfriend. None of them are lovey-dovey, none of them are even really an attraction any more. It's primarily a thought process of, "Hey, I really liked this guy once. I even thought I loved him. I wonder what he's doing today. I wonder if he's okay. I wonder how he dealt with things after we broke up?" I don't really fantasize about him at all. Just a deep caring and a bond that will, regrettably, probably always exist.

It is important to realize, especially in marriage, that these feelings and thoughts be discussed openly. Harboring them to yourself can lead to a number of bad things. Being secretive about it kind of "excites" the situation, and makes it easier to think about being intimate with the person in question, etcetera.

But as for the situation you've discussed, it doesn't sound dishonest or un-commited at all. It just sounds human. =)
