Whenever you see "log base x of y", you should say...

"To what power would I have to raise x in order to get y?"

So in this case:

"To what power would I have to raise 10 in order to get 10?"

10^1 = 10, so the answer is 1.

That isnt times ten....that is log to base ten of 10....which means 10 to what exponent gives you 10...that would be 1
