Yes. They think that due to the LBJ Administration and through brainwashing in the media. On forms to get a job you have to fill out race and Hispanic is put as a race. Another reason could be most Hispanics and Latinos here are Mestizo Mexicans so Americans incorrectly assume Hispanic is a race. It is not a race. They think North America can have different races but not Latin America? Rediculous.

Latino is used to describe people who are Spanish-speaking who are also from Latin America. I imagine that since it is used to describe a lot of people from a large area of the world that some people could get confused and think it's a race. It's not like they teach geography and world cultures all that well in the US schools. (Seriously. This is why our adults are the way they are. It's not like they ignored information given to them. They were never given the information in the first place!)

Not everyone likes this term to describe people who are originally from the south of the US because it ignores the indigenous people of the area. However, I find that it's the best term I've come across so far to indicate someone who came from south of the border.

To be honest, I don't know if it is a race or not. I like around a lot of Mexicans and a lot of them get offended if I say Hispanic or something else so now I just ask people where they are from. I know what it feels like to be questioned, afterall I am apart of the BLACK race, whatever that means. I think we should all just let it go and be whoever we want to be.
