Titration with Iodine will usually only give results for water soluble starches.

By grinding the fish meal and making an aqueous suspension which can be treated with an enzyme like Amylase, the starch is hydrolyzed to glucose. The final glucose level minus a glucose level determined with a specimen without Amylase should give a better value for the overall starch content.
