This is just an ettiquite question, my husband is very alive and healthy...my friend and I have been debating this today, she says a year and I think longer...

I think when you feel comfortable to start a new relationship.

Depending on when you feel comfortable with it. It could be a year, could be longer, it depends on the person.

Why do people expect a widow to wait for a year or more before having a relationship with some one? She is free to get in to it any time after the death of her husband. Why talk about etiquette?Is there a waiting period after a breakup?

Until the person feel like they are ready to date. There is no time limit on these things
