This is something that I've noticed in a few places I've been, so it's not a coincidence. The local GLBT centre gives them out, my campus health centre did, and so does the local sexual health clinic. I've even seen them handed out at the Pride Parade. is it because Lifestyles are cheaper for these places to buy for distribution or is it some other reason? A bit of a strange question, granted, but my curiosity has been sparked.

It's a charitable contribution as well as the fact that they and other sex item companies actually sponsor many events such as Pride parades and GLBT health centers with grants and in return the give-away condoms and other sample products are free advertising.

Years ago the issue of sexuality straight or gay was brushed under the rug as though it didn't happen. Every mothers son or daughter was a perfect virgin until marriage. The womans movement in the 60's told the truth about what life was really about. Hormones rule and not all kids are angels. In the 70's when Reagan was President and Aids was first identified it became known as a "gay" disease, and he did nothing. In retrospect in the US it enabled gay people to fight back the only way they could, by doing anything and everything they could do to shock the public into acknowleging the fact that kids were sexually active and the in this day and age you can't be without protection. Condoms are not 100% effective but it is a hell of a good start to make people realize they need to get over themselves and look out for one another.

Because as a public service the company that produces that brand, donates them to charitable organizations. WET lube does the same thing and the company that makes the female condoms. I'm sure they get some tax benefits like anyone else that donates anything.
